The Empathy Shift
A portrait can show a face.
This series reveals a feeling.
Photographed in Papua New Guinea, Namibia, and Ethiopia, each lenticular work captures the same person in two emotional states: from seriousness into genuine laughter. As the viewer moves, the image shifts softly and almost imperceptibly.
What begins as observation becomes connection. In the moment expression changes, distance disappears and emotion becomes universal.
The Empathy Shift is not about documentation, but recognition — the instant we see ourselves in another.
The lenticular medium is used not as an effect, but as a poetic tool to make emotion visible through movement.
